  1. Don, I want to thank you for providing a beautiful closure to the ceremony of my stepfather. Each of my family were pleasantly surprised and very touched by your kind words to my mother and your releasing of the doves. I believe this is a very special way to end a ceremony for a loved one with peace and healing for their journey on. Thank you again for your patience in waiting and for comforting my family. You made the service extra special.

  2. Don, On behalf of myself and my family I would like to thank you for the releasing of the Doves at my sister Sharon Marrow Interment Ceremony, everyone was so impress even the Bishop they have never experience a dove release before.
    Thank you so much.

  3. It has taken a while to get this out to Don and to just say a huge thanks for the ceremonial dove release for my son’s memorial in December of 2018. We took care of his ashes and the release of the doves was so memorable for my daughter in law, 3 grandchildren, ex wife, and myself. Don took the time with the grand children to explain what he was going to do. Allow them to pet one of the birds before release. We were down on the James River and it had snowed the night before, but it will remain in our hearts and minds for the rest of our lives. Thank you Don for your ministering to my family in this way.

  4. Don, was wonderful! Even at the VERY last minute. I booked him Thursday for a Saturday funeral. We were running behind to the gravesite he patiently waited and his assistance and attentiveness was exceptional. Don I truly thank you for your awesome service. You’re the BEST

  5. DOVE RELEASES FOR MEMORIAL SERVICEMr. Don Kane, of Ceremonial Doves of Tidewater, attended the Newport News Police and Fire Department’s 9/11 Ceremony on September 11, 2019. The releasing of his amazing doves was remarkable and well received by all attending. It brought tears to the eyes of many, including myself and was a fitting tribute to all those that lost their lives so many years ago. Thank you Mr. Kane for making the day extra special. Kelly King, Communications Manager, NNPD.

  6. We liked the idea of releasing doves instead of od confetti and rice. It makes sense that it would be beneficial for the environment since doves will fly away without leaving anything in the ground. With that set, we will recommend my brother to consider a dove release service.

  7. On August 24th, 2019, my family held a casual memorial service on the one year anniversary of my brother’s death. We were happy to have everybody together, but we wanted something a little more meaningful to help this day feel more like a celebration of his life. When I reached out to Don to see if he could bring six doves to be released from my brother’s great grandparents’ house (it is hard for them to get out of the house) he was more than happy to help. He was so respectful of our needs, our time, how crazy and silly my family can be, and only wanted to help make the day as meaningful as he could. And, he did. His words were beautiful, he offered to sing, and setting the doves free really helped to memorialize my brother’s life in a lovely way. So thankful for Don and his kindness in our time of grief!

  8. On Thursday August 8, 2019,, I was on the search for red October! An idea popped into mind after some road blocks and Don came through. He assisted me in my first ever dove release. What an amazingly beautiful morning. Sunday August 11, we released 4 beautiful white doves in memory of some of our members who have passed on to glory. I would like to say that Don was very help even at the last minute and very professional. I highly recommend his services and if ever in the tidewater area again for a function I will give him a call. Thank you Don!

  9. I was very pleased with Don. On time and dress nice for the bithday release of Dove’s. Thank you from the Bailey family

  10. Thank you so much for the professionalism you showed our family during the dove releasing at our mom’s memorial birthday gathering. You helped make a somber moment feel better. I look forward to using your services again.

  11. Don, on behalf of myself and my family, I want to thank you for facilitating such a peaceful gesture of closure for the loss of my sister Mary Kip Wheless Bradley at her interment ceremony. It provided a means to lighten our hearts as we handled and released those beautiful birds in my sisters memory. What a wonderful service you provide.

  12. He was absolutely awesome. I really appreciated him doing the dove release for my mom. He did have to travel a little further than normal because we were deep in the country. He was very respectful, professional, and on time. My family and I were very satisfied with the services of the dove release. He will come highly recommended to everyone that is in need of his services from here on out. Thank You very much Mr. Don.

  13. We are still talking about the Dove release for my Goddaughter Shata Anderson. It was beautiful. Thank you Don for your services. Looking forward to using your services again. ❤😇

  14. Don,

Thank you very much for conducting the dove release after my son’s funeral. You explained the meaning very professionally and it really touched our hearts. So many in attendance said that they had never seen a dove release ceremony before but were very impressed. It was a beautiful ending to a very difficult day.

  15. Don, Thank you so much for your service! Your professionalism was amazing and the Dove Release really captured the moment we were looking for. This service provided our family and friends the closure needed to move forward. We were so amazed at how a simple act could provide so much peace. Our memorial service was complete with this added touch. I would highly recommend the Trinity release for a memorial service. Thank you.

  16. I just wanted to give a big Thank You to Don Kane and his Ceremonial Doves. On August 28, 2017, I was able to do a really nice and tasteful memorial tribute to my Mom, Barbara Ann Steele Meiring, who passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 4th of this year. The dove release was beautiful and breathtaking! It was a beautiful experience that I shall keep in my heart forever!!! I truly felt the presence of God and my Mom with me on that day. This is a most difficult loss for me and such a wonderful memory like this will keep me comforted in my loss for a long time. I shall highly recommend Mr. Kane’s Ceremonial Doves to others. God Bless You, Mr. Kane!

  17. Don, I want to thank you for your extraordinary professionalism with releasing the doves such a wonderful ceremony and service,by having the family members participate by releasing the spirit dove followed by Trinity father, son and Holy Spirit what a beautiful and heartwarming presentation that truly touched the hearts of each and every family member. I would recommend this service to anyone, again thank you.😇

  18. Don, thank you for providing a beautiful closure to the memorial of my mother Beatrice Dennis on 07/15/17. Releasing the Doves added a special touch. Thank you for your services.

  19. Thank you Don for the wonderful releasing of Doves on April 28th 2017 for my 1st nephews funeral. This was a very tough time for our family being that he was so young in age and taken from us.
In addition to the Lords promise of receiving my nephews soul, the beautiful doves granted the visual closure we needed. It was truly an amazing memory we can keep close to our hearts until we see him again.
Thank you for your professionalism and thorough explanation to me and the family.

  22. As we did not have a graveside service after my Mom’s funeral, we found the Dove Release provided a special touch to the end of the Memorial Service. It provided a wonderful way for my brothers, sister & I to say goodbye to Mom. You made every effort to make this our unique experience, and succeeded. We very much appreciated it.
We are fortunate to have you providing this “ministry” here on the peninsula.
God Bless you and all your family,
    Robby

  23. I feel allowing family members to hand release the doves is a good “closing”. It is a spiritual uplifting to both children and adults. I love to watch the children’s faces as they release the doves.

  24. The ceremony lead by Mr. Kane and his beautiful doves provided the perfect touch to closing celebration of the life of my mother, Vashti White. The tribute was a peaceful reminder of a life lived for Christ. It is wonderful to have a memory like this to comfort me during this time of loss. Mr. Kane included the grandchildren in the ceremony; a moment they will never forget. His patience and calming spirit also made those final moments of the day unforgettable.
We thank you for your ministry and professionalism. May God continue to bless you!
    Sincerely,
    Geshla Windley

  25. Edmarc provides a great service to children and families going through trying times. We are glad that we can provide some releaf or closing to these families.

  26. Ceremonial Doves of Tidewater is a wonderful organization. They have supported Edmarc Hospice for Children on numerous occasions with the last being our Day of Remembrance honoring the children that have died in our program. Edmarc serves children with life limiting illnesses and reduces the disabling effects of pediatric illness, loss, and bereavement on families. Don Kane is delightful to work with and has supported our initiatives. Ceremonial Doves of Tidewater has also had a presence at our bereavement camp (Camp M.A.G.I.C.) for our closing memorial services. The families seem to enjoy the presentation and the symbolic meaning of the dove release. We are grateful for his support to the children and families of Edmarc Hospice for Children.

  27. If you want something very touching at a special occasion whether it be remembering a loved one at a funeral or memorial service or celebrating cancer survivors at a walk, Ceremonial Dove Release of Tidewater will make the event even more memorable. As owner of Weymouth Funeral Home and Chairperson of The American Cancer Society’s Making Strides 5k walk, I have had the opportunity to use the dove release many times. It is always a meaningful addition to any event.

    Veronica Weymouth

    • Thank you Veronica for your Funeral Home’s support. It is nice when a Funeral Home cares enough about their clients to recommend a White Dove Release. Many people have never seen a Dove Release and do not realize how meaningful and uplifting it is to the family.
We are also glad that we can support your Cancer Walk. It is a very worthwhile cause.

  28. Don, incorporating the dove release into our memorial service was a very comforting way for our entire family, especially the grandchildren, to say goodbye and begin the healing process after losing someone they loved so much. Releasing the beautiful white dove representing the Spirit of our loved one, followed by three other doves representing the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, added peace to the moment. The message delivered through this ceremony was so special and meaningful to all those who attended. I would highly recommend incorporating this ceremony into any memorial service.
    Fondly,
    Dian

Don, I cannot begin to express the outpouring of emotion I experienced at the Dove Release at the culmination of my brother Jim Stevens’ Memorial Service on October 14, 2014 at Hidenwood Presbyterian Church.
This was my first experience with a Ceremonial Dove Release and I must say that I was overwhelmed. What an incredibly heart-felt and spiritual way to say your final goodbyes to a loved one. I very much appreciated you taking the time to share with me your experiences and motivation which moved you to establish this offering. Your comment about the change in demeanor in children at a graveside service with the release of the doves is a wonderful testimonial to the simplicity, beauty and deep meaning of such an event.
